A number of Region of Southern Denmark’s companies and enterprises are world-renowned: Danfoss in Nordborg, Ecco Danmark in Tønder, Gumlink in Vejle, LEGO in Billund, Lindø in Munkebo and the offshore industry in Esbjerg. With a workforce of 25,000 people, Region of Southern Denmark is the largest employer in the region.

At the same time the region is dominated by SME's, which means there is a potential for cluster development. There are quite a few clusters in the region some of which are Offshore Center in Esbjerg, IT-Forum, Mechatronics as well as a number of environmentally orientated networks such as Key2Green.
